Frank Duchala

Frank Duchala, Assistant Professor for the College of Business at the Johnson & Wales University has over 25 years experience in helping people maximize their performance potential through learning. He has designed learning architectures and created learning experiences to help organizations, both private and public, improve their competitive advantage and their associates to achieve their personal and professional goals. He believes that learning will ultimately be the primary competitive advantage for organizations that strive to differentiate themselves from their competitors. Organizations that can learn more quickly than their competitors will become dominant in their respective markets.

With his background in adult learning and leadership, Frank brings both a conceptual understanding of organizations and their functions and a practical set of learning experiences to WorkPlace Dynamics. His learning theory rests on three basic principles; 1) learning should be goal, performance based; 2) learning is enhanced by opportunities to fail; 3) performance support is provided through experiential, story based means. As Frank explains, "Today's learning environment needs to be a balance between traditional classroom and new e-learning methodology for delivering learning. Learning should be learner driven, not instructor lead". Organizations that believe learning to be an investment and not a cost, and develop strategic initiatives to incorporate this philosophy into their business plan will see a return on their investment in higher individual and organizational performance, better customer and employee retention and ultimately increasing and sustained profitability.

Frank holds an undergraduate degree in Liberal Arts History from the New York State University College at Oneonta and Master's Degrees in Education and Public Administration from the State University of New York at Albany.
